Dear Friends of CECO,
As part of our family prayers on Thanksgiving we read out loud President George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving address. Washington and his contemporaries had survived the hardships of revolution and won their independence, and with the adoption of the Constitution they created a government theretofore unknown in human history: a government obligated to protect the God-given rights of its citizens — a government designed to insure that its powers were derived from the consent of a free people.
We thank God on this Thanksgiving for the nation which the Founders gave us and we pledge to work for the survival and the victory of liberty now and for generations to come. As Washington wrote, we render to the Lord “..our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country …offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions.”
Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
