James R. Hutton to Receive the Dean W. R. Woolrich Engineer of the Year Award

Compressor Engineering Corporation (CECO) Vice President James R. Hutton, PE, received the Dean W. R. Woolrich Engineer of the Year Award Thursday night, April 12, 2012, in Houston. The South Texas ASME presented the award during its Honors and Awards Evening at the Forest Club.

The Woolrich award recognizes engineers for a lifetime of technical achievement and service. ASME, founded as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, also elected Hutton as an ASME Fellow in 2011 in recognition of distinguished engineering achievement throughout his career.

Hutton graduated from Columbia University Engineering Midshipman School and served in the US Navy during World War II as a Chief Engineer. When he returned home, Hutton continued his education with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration at the University of Texas.

Hutton spent 38 years at Dresser where he served as an applications engineer, sales manager and senior executive. He joined CECO in 1986, following his retirement as president of Dresser Machinery International Division. In 2005, Hutton celebrated 60 years of service within the petroleum and gas industry.

“We are very proud of Mr. Hutton’s achievements,” said Bruce Hotze, Chief Executive Officer of CECO. “He is one of the most respected engineers in our industry, and we are grateful for his excellence as a CECO associate. Mr. Hutton is a paradigm of knowledge, wisdom and integrity.”

As an author (How to Sell Technical Equipment and Services – published in 2005), Jim Hutton shares wisdom accumulated from decades of experience in the petroleum industry, helping readers master the challenge of industrial sales. Jeff Share, of Pipeline and Gas Journal, has said, “Open virtually any page in this must-read book and you find a nugget to enrich your life and your job.”

Matthew 28:5-8

After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for He has been raised just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him.’ Behold, I have told you.” Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to His disciples.

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Friends of CECO,

As part of our family prayers on Thanksgiving we read out loud President George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving address. Washington and his contemporaries had survived the hardships of revolution and won their independence, and with the adoption of the Constitution they created a government theretofore unknown in human history: a government obligated to protect the God-given rights of its citizens -- a government designed to insure that its powers were derived from the consent of a free people.

We thank God on this Thanksgiving 2011 for the nation which the Founders gave us and we pledge to work for the survival and the victory of liberty now and for generations to come. As Washington wrote, we render to the Lord “..our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country …offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions…”

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Bruce Hotze, CEO
General Thanksgiving
By the PRESIDENT of the United States Of America
A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;-- for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;-- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;-- and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;-- to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

G. Washington

CECO Recognized for Quality Performance to the US Military

Columbus, Ohio, July 1, 2011– Compressor Engineering Corporation (CECO) was recently honored by DLA Land and Maritime, Columbus, Ohio, as one of the government's best suppliers at an award ceremony held during the 2011 Industry Conference and Exhibition, June 27-30, in Columbus, Ohio. Richard K. Hotze, CECO’s President, accepted the award from Army Brig. Gen. Darrell K. Williams, the DLA Land and Maritime Commanding General.

“This award really is recognition of the world class team CECO has assembled, working to tirelessly provide quality products on a timely fashion. Our goal is to give superior products to the Navy they can rely upon” said Mr. Hotze. CECO supplies critical spares for compressed air systems utilized by the US Navy through the Defense Logistics Agency.

CECO was recognized as having an exemplary record providing products the government can be confident in using. To be eligible, vendors must have shipped 50 or more contract line items during a 12-month period. To qualify for the Gold Award, a contractor must have a perfect score of 100.

DLA Land and Maritime, which has its headquarters in Fort Belvoir, Va., teams with more than 6,000 suppliers of Land and Maritime weapon systems parts. CECO was one of 1of 182 companies to be recognized for their distinguished service to the DLA.

DLA Land and Maritime processes over 7 million orders annually and at a value of about $5 billion.

CECO is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of engine and compressor replacement parts. Customers include gas pipelines, gathering and processing companies, petrochemical, industrial and refrigeration plants worldwide.
